Add-on · Orders & Prices

Every order, from the first estimate to the last tray back.

Internal orders from your own plantations and external customer orders, side by side. An order is firm from the day it is placed: OperoNMS routes each line to the right nursery, reserves stock so nothing is promised twice, and tells you early when an order will be short. Groups that order a year ahead can switch on an annual order round.

OperoNMS · Plant Orders
How ordering works

Order, accept, grow, deliver. Every order is firm from the day it is placed.

The customer, or your team on their behalf, says what they need, how many and in which month. The nursery accepts it, OperoNMS reserves the plants or proposes a batch to grow them, and the customer asks for delivery when it is time to plant.

  1. Place the orderIn the customer portal, or entered by staff from a phone or email order with the customer's PO number. The earliest month that can be grown in time is offered.Customer or clerk
  2. AcceptThe nursery accepts it, re-allocates it to another nursery, or sources it from a partner.Nursery manager
  3. Reserve or growPlants are reserved from availability. Where they would be short, a batch is proposed with its sow-by date.OperoNMS
  4. Ask for deliveryFrom 14 days before the due date to 30 days after, or a hold of up to three months.Customer
  5. DeliverInspected, loaded and delivered with a delivery note, then receipt confirmed in the portal.Dispatch
Need an annual order round?Forestry groups that estimate plantation orders a year or more ahead can switch on the optional order cycle, where orders firm up from projected to adjusted to actual. It is off unless you turn it on.
Routing & rules

The customer orders plants. OperoNMS finds the nursery.

Each order line goes to the closest nursery that grows that species, measured from the customer's plantation. Lines going to different nurseries become separate orders. The new-order screen shows the supplying nursery and its distance.

Rules everyone can see, applied the same way every timeYour organisation sets them; the system applies them without favourites.
RuleHow it works
Earliest due monthThe 1st of a month at least the species' growing time plus two weeks from today. Offered automatically.
Delivery request windowThe customer asks for delivery from 14 days before the due date to 30 days after.
Delivery deadlineWithin 10 days of the due date or the request, whichever is later, or on the customer's chosen date.
Missed requestNo request within 30 days of due: a write-off charged to the customer, after a manager approves it.
HoldsUp to three months, within a yearly allowance per customer.
Re-allocationTo another nursery in the group, or to an approved partner nursery through a purchase request.
CancellationFree before production starts; afterwards it becomes a write-off.

The order desk

Accept, re-allocate or source from a partner, in one queue.

Orders to Accept

Four sections: orders allocated to this nursery, re-allocated to it, sent elsewhere and waiting, and, when the order cycle is on, adjusted-order change requests. Accept, re-allocate or send to a partner nursery.

OperoNMS · Order book

The order book and reservations

Allocate stock to approved orders one by one or all at once. Reservations come from projected availability, so you can never promise the same plants twice. Phone and email orders are entered by staff with the customer's PO number.

The order record

"What happens next" for every order.

A milestone line from Ordered to Deliver by, the nursery allocation, and the production decisions behind it: the proposals and the batches they created. Orders on the order cycle also keep their projected, adjusted and actual quantities.

  • Items, Dispatch and Communication tabs, with notes
  • Allocate stock, raise a purchase request, mark ready or dispatched
  • Raise a delivery request on the customer's behalf
  • Cancel or write off, with a manager's approval

Holds, write-offs and shortages, handled in the open.

OperoNMS · Plant Hold Requests

Plant holds

A customer who can't plant yet asks for a hold of up to three months. The manager sees the allowance used this year and approves, which moves the order and the production plan, or rejects with a reason such as "No space to hold the plants". The customer then confirms the risk terms.

OperoNMS · Write-offs

Write-offs

Orders never requested, or cancelled after production started, become write-offs that a manager approves. Approval releases the plants, which can go straight onto the surplus board for another nursery's customers.

When a batch is lost,OperoNMS first reallocates from other batches. If an order line is still short, it is flagged with the batch named, and the customer contact is told.
Surplus stock board

One nursery's spare plants are another nursery's shortfall.

Spare plants from write-offs, reduced or cancelled orders, or better germination than planned, are published to every nursery in the group with a "fit to plant until" date. Another nursery claims them, all or part, and the publishing nursery delivers straight to the claimant's customer.

  • What will pass planting age within four weeks
  • What was re-homed this year, at transfer price
  • Customers never see the board

Customers & prices

Internal plantations and external buyers, each on their own terms.

Customers

Internal or external, contact, region, cost centre, compartments, holds used, orders and plants written off. A switch says whether they can sign in to the customer portal.

Prices

The price each order line was given is recorded, with the date, who stated it and the price list it came from, and frozen when it should be. Transfer prices for internal customers, VAT for external ones.

Partner nurseries

When you can't grow it in time, a purchase request goes to procurement for a partner nursery. When the plants arrive, they become a bought-in batch with the supplier as its source.

Optional · Annual order cycle

Order a year ahead? Let orders firm up: projected, adjusted, actual.

The order cycle is off unless you switch it on, so every order is firm from the start. Switch it on when your customers estimate plantation orders a year or more ahead and firm them up as harvest plans settle. OperoNMS then runs that round for you, with deadlines, reminders and clear rules for what can change at each stage.

Stage 1

Projected order

Customers estimate their needs from compartments due for harvest. They can change anything until the projected stage locks.

FY2028 example: opens 1 Aug 2026, locks after 31 Dec 2026.

Stage 2

Adjusted order

Reductions and delays are free. Increases, new lines or earlier months become change requests the nursery accepts or rejects.

Locks after 31 Mar 2027.

Stage 3

Actual order

Locked, planned and grown. Only the nursery amends it, and a cancellation raises a write-off.

Delivered Oct 2027 – Sep 2028.

  • Switched on by the divisional nurseries manager, and set up per financial year
  • Applies to your internal plantation customers by default; turn it on or off for any customer
  • Reminders 30, 14, 7 and 1 days before each close, by default
  • Choose whether reductions are free and whether new orders are accepted after each stage
  • Only a published cycle binds orders. Switch it off again, with a reason, and every order is firm from the start
  • Customers fill projected orders from their compartments, by hand, or from a spreadsheet

Pilot programme

Be one of our first pilot nurseries.

We work closely with a small group of nurseries to set up OperoNMS on their sites. You get hands-on setup and training, your own nursery's layout and recipes loaded with you, and a direct say in what we build next.
